The reason, the rhyme, the whole enchilada.

Basically, I created a blog for the sheer purpose of being able to have some way to formulate ideas. Sound just about like everyone else in the world? Well, it kinda is. I have a real problem with formulating my ideas and thoughts into words. I mean.. I have a REAL problem with it. So, I thought that this would probably be the best way to go about practicing COMMUNICATION. *gasps* I find that communication, especially lately, has become a fairy-tale. Like a great idea in theory, but an unobtainable goal that seems silly and childish to think about. I mean, don't get me wrong, I like technology as much as the next person. But it kind of seems like it's destroying the need for actual interaction with others. Which SHOULD be a basic necessity for all humans.  Maybe I'm the only one that read Chekhov's short story "The Bet", but that is some pretty serious stuff! Humans need other humans. I like to think that my friends like me for who I am and the conversations and relationships we've built in person. Not for the person I can pretend to be online and over text messages. Actually getting to know a person by building a relationship has become out-dated, and this revelation startles me. You become so comfortable with only interacting with each other through technology, that when you actually are around each other in person, it becomes uncomfortable. How horrid is it that we actually have to text others, while we're in the same ROOM, to convey our thoughts because we somehow cannot summon up the courage to just say it out loud. Everyone has heard the phrase "lost in translation" and that's exactly what is happening here. Instead of our true feelings coming out in our speech and through the emphasis we put on words. The stressed syllables, the tone, the rhythm is horribly ignored and replaced by "OMG cn u believe wht she said!!!!!!!111!!!!!!!! lolololololzzzzzzzz i luv shortening wurdzzzzzz"
Seriously? We've done it. We have truly killed language. Old English (Anglo- Saxons) used English, and it was absolutely beautiful. Eloquent, fluid, lovely. It breaks my heart to think that each and every day we are degrading the once- beautiful english language even more. I can only imagine what each new generation will do to help in the decline of what is already a deprived tongue.
I guess I'm just slightly old-fashioned and think that technology is getting a bit out of hand.
